Springtime is an excellent introduction to Xàbia - a time of new beginnings, a time of renewal, and above all, a time for hope. The heady aroma of orange and almond blossom that drifts across the valleys of Xàbia in Spring brings with it the anticipation of yet another fabulous Summer.
When a warm March breeze lifts a confetti scattering of blossom into the air our thoughts immediately turn to lazy Summer afternoons when the blue Mediterranean sea sparkles and white sails drift in the crystal clear sunlight for which the area is renowned. It is easy to see why Xàbia has attracted so many artists and writers over the years.
Autumn seems to be a continuation of summer, with an occasional shower that freshens up the town and surrounding countryside, giving a renewed vigour to the lush Mediterranean plants and trees.
Winter is thankfully brief and a major reason why so many people from the colder climates of Europe make Spain, and especially Jávea, their permanent home.
In Xàbia, we may arrive as strangers but we leave as friends.
